Although this is what we said, we weren't at all sure. Probably from this moment on, the things we had thought so adorable would never see the light of day.
In our small town there weren't, after all, many shops. So when we couldn't find any woollen shoes, we go worried. No doubt we walked more quickly, for in a short time only two or three shops remained. And these were precisely the shops we seldom patronized. There were small, and didn't have much stock. We were sure they wouldn't have what we were looking for.
